 Why
did we CREATE USB CopyNotify! ?
There was a NEED in office to keep an eye on
data being copied onto removable USB drives and hence
the requirement for some monitoring software.
Wasn't
there any software that did this already available ?
Sure there is a lot of software around that takes
care of data security & theft of confidential data but
we felt they were all too complicated to install /
setup and too feature bloated for our liking. We wanted
something simple without having to get into network
security policies, access & control policies , active
directories & domain controllers.
Who
would be the best target audience for it ?
The software has been designed such that it can
monitor just 2-3 computers to several hundred computers,
it really does not make a difference but we had the
average small business user in mind when we wrote
the software (remember we are a small business
ourselves)
What
kind of small business user ?
USB CopyNotify! has been designed specifically for
the small business user who really is data security
conscious but doest have the time, money or expertise
for sophisticated network management and control.
USB CopyNotify! has been designed for the small business
user who has several computers in the office, is aware
and worried about theft of confidential data but is not
tech savvy enough to read up & implement sophisticated
data security solutions.
USB CopyNotify! is perfect for the small business user
whose focus is to use computers as an tool while
ensuring data is secure to a certain degree and not get
bogged down into trying to configure the computer
network versus running the business.
Can
someone hack into it ?
Yes, they can but steps have been
taken to ensure it is NOT a cake walk to hack into it.
We concentrated on its functionality and effectiveness
and then added in a couple of checks such that a average
computer user should not be able to hack into it. Each
build we release makes it more hacker proof.
We have worked around the fact
that all normal users should NOT have administrative
privileges. If this is followed it would be rather
difficult for someone to break into it.
